CNN National Security Analyst Says Cure for Terrorism is to Not Feel Terrorized

A British-American national security analyst for CNN, Peter Bergen, who has personally interviewed Osama Bin Laden (1997), tells us today that terrorism in North Africa is no big deal and that Al Qaeda-linked groups pose no real threat to the West, being in North Africa and having no “capacity” to attack us from there. The cure for terrorism, Bergen says, is not in squashing Al Qaeda once and for all, but in convincing ourselves that we should not feel terrorized by terrorist acts.

American politicians also got into sky-is-falling mode. Republican Congressman Mike Rogers, who heads the House Intelligence Committee, fulminated, “This is going to get worse. You cannot allow this to become a national security issue for the United States. And I argue it’s already crossed that threshold.”

[...] Western politicians and commentators who claim that the al Qaeda linked groups in North Africa are a serious threat to the West unnecessarily alarm their publics and also feed the self-image of these terrorists who aspire to attack the West, but don’t have the capacity to do so. Terrorism doesn’t work if folks aren’t terrorized.

This is the politics of appeasement — rainbows and unicorns. If we don’t criticize them for murdering people for the “crime” of being non-Muslim, in other words, then they won’t feel that they need to murder us. If we just leave them be, Bergen argues, and allow them to take over North Africa completely, we can rest assured that they will see us as friends and not seek to attack the West.

As a British-American, Bergen has surely, at one point or another in his life, looked at a map of the Mediterranean Sea to see the proximity of North Africa to Portugal, Spain and France. Surely, as a “national security analyst” for CNN, Bergen is aware that Egyptian Muslims consider Spain to be “occupied” and they seek to “liberate” it. They refer to Spain as “Andalusia.”

[Egyptian] Demonstrator: We are trying to remind people of the history of Andalusia. It was toppled over 500 years ago by the Spaniards, who are occupying it to this day. We want to remind people that no matter how long the Spanish occupation of Andalusia continues, the day will come, Allah willing, when we liberate it and Islam will return.

Muslims in North Africa are fighting not because they want control of North Africa, but because they want to “liberate” the world from Christianity, Judaism and secularism to “peace” which they believe is only found in Islam. North Africa is just their latest conquest, not their last.

Within Europe, there is a growing Muslim population which will surely side with their heavily armed brethren in North Africa. Deacon Greg Kandra today writes about conversions to Islam in France, and at Townhall is a report on demographics which is referred to as “the silent conquest.”

Muslims in Europe are producing from 4 to 6 children per couple. Encouraged by some sheiks in Muslim countries who have forbidden the use of birth control, Muslim immigrants are producing children at two to three times the rate of Europeans.

Even Muslims in Europe who came from more westernized Islamic countries, like Turkey and Tunisia, have twice the birthrate of other Europeans. And the rate among their second generations is holding to that factor.

There are many projections as to when the Muslim population will gain a majority in Europe. Some say it could be as soon as 2025. Others as late as 2050.

What happens when there is a Muslim majority in a country? Islam teaches that when Muslims are in the minority, they must live in tolerance of non-Muslim citizens, but when they are in the majority, they must seek to establish Sharia Law for everyone. That means death for those who do not submit to Islamic law, and hangings and decapitations for those who break the law.

I’m sure that we would all love to live in a world where “happy talk” convinces Muslims to act like Christians in that violence is only used as a last resort and in self-defense. People who believe that such a world exists, or could exist, are looking neither at history nor at what happens in Muslim-majority countries, nor at what the Quran teaches. They live in denial of these realities. So it is with David Bergen’s claim that Muslims will be content to stay in North Africa provided that we stop feeling “terrorized” by terror. If you buy that, as we say here in Kentucky, your “analysis” is about as useless as teats on a boar hog.
